Children from ages 2 years six months to 5 years nine months are admitted on the basis of the order in which they apply. Younger children, 2 years six months, attend school three mornings per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Children from 3 to 4 years attend school five mornings per week from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Older children, ages 4 to 5 years, attend school five afternoons per week from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The Extended Day Pre-Kindergarten class is for children ages 4 years six months to 5 years nine months (at the Head of School’s discretion) and meets five days per week from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Unfortunately, not all applicants will be invited to tour, as the tour schedule is very limited due to the fluctuation in space availability. For those to whom we can offer a tour of the school, you will receive a letter by January 31st inviting you to a tour. Tours are only for the children who will be considered for the upcoming school year. Your child must be at least 2 years 6 months old by the September start for which you are applying in order to be considered for a tour.
Both parents are required to visit with the child. The child may play in the classroom or stay with the parents while a teacher is in attendance. The Head of School will review the policies of the school, the program, schedule, organization, procedures and school philosophy as well as answer any questions. The tour is about one hour long and the family is encouraged to participate in the school’s activities, talk to the faculty and transition from one activity to another.
Notification of Admission
The admissions committee will contact the family on or before March 15th to notify of your child’s acceptance. Your decision to enter should be made during the following week. A $3,000.00 non-refundable deposit is also due at that time and is required to hold your child’s place. This deposit will be applied to the first semester’s tuition.
At entrance, all children must have on file in the school office medical records detailing necessary immunizations and allergies, identification and emergency information sheets, and registration forms with pertinent parent information and carpool/discharge information. Parents are obligated to keep all information up-to-date at all times.
SLS School welcomes all children and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality or ethnic origin.
A financial aid program is also available. All enrollees are welcome to apply.
